Happy New Year from all of us at Ard Nahoo! We’re just getting back into the swing of things in the office, planning out the finer details of our upcoming Yoga, Walking & Relaxation Retreat and catching up on our goings on since Christmas. Now all of the festivities are over it’s time to grit your teeth, buck down and think of Summer. After all, it can’t be too far away…
1. The Times
Last weekend, the UK Times featured Ard Nahoo in their piece ‘A Break for Every Weekend in 2009′. Here’s what they had to say…
Eco-retreat in the wilds of Ireland Far from the fiddle-de-dee, stout-soaked Ireland of the craic dealers, you will find the luxury Ard Nahoo retreat (00 353 71 913 4939, www.ardnahoo.com ), in the Republic’s wild northwest. Staying in an eco-cabin (timber-framed, hemp-insulated and powered by wind generators) the green family can take part in mother-and-baby yoga classes, ‘fairy gardening’ workshops, singing and drama, as well as a range of nonmotorised water-based activities such as kayaking. A weekend costs 325 pounds for a family of four; flights to Knock with Ryanair (0871 246 0000, www.ryanair.com ) start at 62 pounds return.
2. Detox Madness
Here at Ard Nahoo all of us grown ups have been steadily detoxing since Monday (well, some since Wednesday – slackers). While I think it’s safe to say we’ve gone through the worst of the physical symptoms (how can stopping one coffee a day produce headaches??)
the cravings have just begun. For one, it’s the cup of tea after dinner. For another, it’s a slice of toast and a morning coffee. And the last was doing fine until someone mentioned the word ‘Toblerone’. Then it all went downhill. Anyway, one more week to go!
3. Sheltermaker
The new course listing for Sheltermaker has gone live. Creator Peter Cowman is responsible for the design of our beautiful Eco Cabins, and continues to run workshops through Living Architecture. For more details, visit Peter’s site here.
4. Wise Woman Weekend
Preparations are well underway for this year’s Wise Woman Weekend. The opening ceremony is to be held here, in our Wise Woman Mandala, and the rest of the weekend workshops will be around Dromahair. We still have accommodation for the weekend, with our special room only offer of ?100 pp. Contact us for more information, or visit www.wisewomanireland.com for more information about the festival.
5. Buckwheat Bread
Sticking to the detox theme, does anyone have any recipes for a buckwheat bread? As it’s the only flour we’re allowed, I’m desperately praying there’s something out there. Everything I’ve dug up online includes other flours. Or two cups of oil. Or Xanthan Gum. Yuck.
6. Yoga, Walking & Relaxation Retreat
Finally, I’ll just remind you all of our upcoming yoga retreat. We’re still waiting for a few confirmations, but there are still one or two places available. At only ?280, it’s one of the best value yoga retreats on the market. Visit our site for more information.
